The MTU is the maximum allowed frame length on the wire, excluding
frame delimiters (i.e. preamble, ending delimiter).
The MTU of an FDDI frame includes:
FC (1 octet) + DA (6 octets) + SA (6 octets) +
INFO (<= 4478 octets) +
FCS (4 octets) = 4495 octets
